TRANS FATS: (a.k.a trans fatty acids) are created in an industrial process that adds hydrogen to liquid vegetable oils to make them more solid. Another name for trans fat is “partially hydrogenated oil.” No matter what you call it, it is an artery-clogging fat that makes food last longer, taste better and basically kill faster. Trans fats can be found in many foods—but especially in fried S.A.D. foods like French fries and doughnuts, and baked goods including pastries, pie crusts, biscuits, pizza dough, cookies, crackers, stick margarines and shortenings. California is now the first state to ban trans fats in restaurants.
