Tip 7: Move Your Body

The same goes for food, but find a fitness activity that you like, or better yet, love and crave.

It’s simple. If you don’t like it, you will resent it and it won’t become a part of your daily life, so if you don’t enjoy running, don’t run. If you don’t like beets, don’t eat them.

After miles of running, personal training and classes over the years, I have found that for me, like food, I need variety. I need to box often, practice yoga, run ocassionally, hoopdance and then eat whole foods to build the strong body and stress-free life that I want.

I enjoy every single fitness activity that I do. I have found things that I look forward to, and because of that, I feel motivated to make time for these activities all week long. My stress-level has decreased dramatically. I sleep well. Haven’t had a cold in years. Eating well and incorporating enjoyable fitness into my life makes me, and the folks I know who do the same, feel unstoppable. To achieve your health goals, you have to do both.

Most gyms will give you anywhere from one class to one week of access to classes free, so have some fun trying out different gyms and studios. Keep a journal documenting how you felt before, during and after each class to help you find the best fit. Keep track of what foods you ate before and after your exercise. Make fitness and food part of the same goal—optimal health.
