Tip 1: Be Kind to Yourself

It is very important to remember that everyone’s process is unique. We all have different emotions, memories, approaches and experiences attached to certain foods. We each have various nutritional needs based upon ancestry, where we currently live on the planet, etc. But one thing that we should all remember is that we are absolutely worth the extra time and effort that a plant-based diet requires. I repeat—we are absolutely worth the extra time and effort that a plant-based diet requires.

In order to succeed, you will want to become your own biggest cheerleader.

Be patient with yourself—be kind to yourself. Going plant-based is like learning a whole new language and way of operating on a daily basis. Look at this new chapter through a positive lens and it will make all the difference.

If you can only make a few changes a week, or if you fall off the wagon, pat yourself on the shoulder, say “that’s my process” and get back on the wagon—guilt-free. My friend Mary calls it “fast forgiveness.” Practice it. Embrace it.

This is a journey. What may seem like failure or a step in an unplanned direction, may just be the lesson you need to gain strength in the long run.

Each step forward, no matter how small, is a step in the right direction and we hope we can help make that road a bit easier, delicious and definitely fun.
