Announcing the Winners of the YumUniverse 1st Birthday Recipe Contest

The YumUniverse 1st Birthday Recipe Contest was the absolute perfect way to celebrate YumUniverse’s first birthday—friends near and far were a part of the entire proces—tasting, voting and sharing their talents. All of the judges were impressed with the quality and diversity of entries. We had everything from Raw Rice Pilaf to Gazpacho, and Brownie Blizzard Cake to Donuts to try, and now YU have chosen your faves out of our Top 5 Finalists. Drumroll…

Third Prize, and winner of some YU eGuidance (TREATS or YU Test Drive), goes to the sophisticated and stunning YUM Cake submitted by Callie England a.k.a Rawxy!

Second Prize, and winner of a $50 Amazon Gift Certificate, goes to the unique and scrumptious Coconut, Basil & Lime Pops entry from Complicatarian!

and the BIG WINNER of the Grand Prize 5-tray Excalibur Dehydrator goes to Lisa Pitman, creator of the Party Perfect Petit Fours!

Bravo everyone. Bravo.

I have to say that all of the Finalist recipes must be tried—they are all worthy of winning the Grand Prize. Meghan Telpner’s Spicy Sweet Potato & Refried Bean Burrito is already in my regular kitchen rotation (I have made it twice since tasting day) and Jenne Claiborne’s Pineapple Almond Balls are Rea Frey Holguin’s new favorite snack and my new favorite roadtrip food (just took some on a recent 1,500 mile drive).

I can’t thank YU enough for participating in this contest, either by submitting your delicious recipes, or by taking the time to judge, prepare, comment and vote. Thank you to those of you who sent me such kind, personal messages. This community inspires the heck out of me, and that is the best birthday gift a girl could ever wish for.

Happy, happy birthday YumUniverse and congratulations to all the entrants and winners of the recipe contest. I’m your biggest fan.
